Fried Fish Broth


Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 smaller white-fleshed fish such as tilapia, the fresher the better

  • 1 Large piece of ginger, sliced

  • 2-4 lotus root

  • Salt


Variations

  • Bok Choy and Green Onion

  • Winter Melon

  • Sweet Potato and Tomato


Directions

  1. Fry the fish fully at 350ºF

  2. Drain the fish of excess oil or pat dry

  3. Add fish and ginger to a pot of boiling water adding just enough water to cover the fish

  4. Allow the water to come back to a full rolling boil and cook for at least 30 minutes or when the broth has reached the desired consistency

  5. Strain out all the solids from the broth, wash the pot and add the broth back to the pot

  6. Add your vegetables and cook to desired doneness in the broth and serve
